$27 Million in VW Mitigation Trust Funding for Zero-Emission Class 8 Freight and Port Drayage Trucks

The Bay Area Air Quality Management District is writing to inform you that $27 million in funding is available for Zero-Emission Class 8 Freight and Port Drayage Trucks in California from the Volkswagen (VW) Environmental Mitigation Trust. Applications will be accepted starting August 18, 2020, at 1:00 PM PDT on a first-come, first-served basis.
 

The VW Environmental Mitigation Trust is a nationwide program that provides funding to fully mitigate the excess NOx emissions caused by VW’s use of illegal emissions testing defeat devices in VW diesel vehicles.

Basic Project Requirements
 
Ownership: Proof of ownership for at least one year.

Operation: Operate old and new vehicle at least 75% of the time within California

Scrapping: Existing vehicle must be scrapped.

Certification: New vehicle must be certified or verified by CARB.

Funding cap per entity: 10% ($2.7 million).

Reporting: Applicants granted an award must submit annual usage reports for the term of the contract.
