$25 Million Available for On-Farm Conservation Innovation Trials

The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) announced the availability of $25 million in annual funding to advance the adoption and evaluation of innovative conservation practices on agricultural lands. The funding for on-farm trials is available as a sub-program of the Conservation Innovation Grants (CIG) program, authorized under the 2018 Farm Bill. FTA announced the availability of $5 million in Fiscal Year 2019 competitive grant funding to support transit services for Native American tribes and Alaska Native villagers in rural areas. FTA’s Tribal Transit Program is authorized by Congress to support public transportation for Native American tribes to provide access to jobs, schools, and health care, as well as to meet the needs of elders, people with disabilities, and youth in rural areas where transit is sparse. Applications will be evaluated based on criteria outlined in the Notice of Funding Opportunity, including how the project will improve the quality of life for the tribe and surrounding communities. The Department of Homeland Security/Federal Emergency Management Agency announced the Fiscal Year 2019 Nonprofit Security Grant Program (NSGP) in the amount of $60,000,000, available nationwide to nonprofits. Of this amount, $50,000,000 is available to nonprofits located in designated urban areas, and $10,000,000 is available to nonprofits located outside designated urban areas. The California Governor’s Office of Emergency Services (Cal OES) is the state administering agency for these funds. The NSGP funding is focused on target hardening activities.
