New CPB Rural Storytelling Initiative to Make 10 Grants of Up to $50,000 Each

Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB) has announced a new initiative, Coming Home: Connecting to Community, with the goal of creating authentic local storytelling about life in rural America through television, radio and digital-first content. Programming will celebrate the diversity, culture, experiences and richness of rural communities that is not told by commercial media.

CPB will make pre-production and engagement grants to identify local producers, filmmakers, citizens and talent to tell their stories about life in small-town America that will be distributed on a national scale. Proposals will explain how funding will be used to conduct environmental scans, listening sessions, focus groups, talent assessment, story development, audience research, preliminary production and editing, travel costs, partner identification and engagement, and more.

Grants of up to $50,000 will be made to 10 stations. TV and radio stations are both eligible to apply.
