Description:
The purpose of this solicitation is to fund an assessment of the potential role of hydrogen production from renewable electricity and end-use conversion technologies for electric sector applications in California’s decarbonizing electric system. The goals of this assessment are to 1) provide research, development, and demonstration recommendations for California’s electric system that accelerate cost and performance improvements of key technologies, equipment, and subcomponents, and 2) inform how future Electric Program Investment Charge (EPIC) program investments in hydrogen can best coordinate with and complement other hydrogen development and deployment programs.
Eligibility:
This solicitation is open to all public and private entities with the exception of local publicly owned electric utilities.[1] In accordance with CPUC Decision 12-05-037, funds administered by the CEC may not be used for any purposes associated with local publicly owned electric utility activities.
[1] A local publicly owned electric utility is an entity as defined in California Public Utilities Code section 224.3.
