The California Air Resources Board (CARB or the Board) invites you to a workgroup teleconference to discuss grant solicitation of $10 million for an administrator to implement the Electric Bicycle Incentives Project for Fiscal Year (FY) 2021-22. This is a new project that is aimed at employing innovative solutions to bring the benefits of electric bicycles to lower-income and disadvantaged communities that are most impacted by air pollution.
The goal of the project is to help improve access to electric bicycles for lower-income consumers throughout California by providing an incentive for an electric bicycle at the time of purchase. Through increased access and deployment of electric bicycles, this project will expand transportation options and improve air quality by reducing vehicle miles travelled.. CARB is seeking strong partnerships to finalize development of this project and administer the incentives. This solicitation will be open to federal, state or local government entities or agencies, and California nonprofit organizations with expertise in building key partnerships, coordinated outreach and education in disadvantaged communities, and general knowledge of CARB’s Low Carbon Transportation Equity Projects. This workgroup will be focused on discussing the expected scope of work and what CARB will be looking for in an application, including generally how the applications may be scored. This workgroup is strictly to discuss the solicitation and will not cover incentive amounts, eligible bicycles, and project design; those details will be the focus of future workgroups.
