Optimizing Long-Duration Energy Storage to Improve Grid Resiliency and Reliability in Under-resourced Communities
This solicitation will demonstrate the increased resilience that clean, long-duration energy storage systems can provide to critical facilities of which 68 are in under-resourced communities. The proposed projects from this solicitation would also take into consideration the potential risks of power outages from extreme weather conditions and wildfire mitigation plans while targeting under-resourced communities. This solicitation will demonstrate how critical community facilities can modulate facility demand, energy-storage output, and renewable power to achieve optimal resiliency. demonstrations would couple smart inverters, energy management systems, or a microgrid controller, in concert with energy storage, and document the strategies that best meet performance needs for critical loads while minimizing cost.
