DOE Announces Request for Information on DRAFT Window Technologies and Systems R&D Opportunities

The Department of Energy’s Building Technologies Office (BTO) announced a Request for Information (RFI) to solicit feedback from a wide range of stakeholders on BTO’s strategic direction and research and development (R&D) investment in window technologies and systems. The purpose of this RFI is to better understand where research goals for building windows and window technologies can be refined. It requests feedback on planned technical objectives, technical targets, tools, and overall R&D activities and estimates of program impacts.

The stakeholder input received from the RFI will also inform updates to BTO’s DRAFT Research and Development Opportunities Report (RDO) for Windows issued earlier this month. The RDO report outlines BTO’s future direction in developing the next generation of affordable, high-performance windows, as well as integrated daylighting and shading technologies. The report identifies opportunities and challenges, future technology development, integration, and implementation activities.

Responses to this RFI and any questions related to it must be submitted electronically to BTO_windows_RDO@ee.doe.gov no later than 5:00 p.m. E.T. on Monday, July 20, 2020. To provide feedback on the RDO report, please respond to the Request for Information HERE.

Respond to the Windows RFI at EERE Exchange. Learn more about the RDO for Windows Report.
