The California Department of Housing and Community Development released the Joe Serna, Jr. Farmworker Housing Grant program Application Workbook. The Notice of Funding Availability (NOFA) for approximately $86 million was released on February 25, 2021.


Application submittal portal will open on April 5, 2021.


Applications will be accepted over-the-counter beginning

April 5, 2021 through July 6, 2021

Background: This funding is from Proposition 1, the Veterans and Affordable Housing Bond Act of 2018 and from Senate Bill 2, the Building Homes and Jobs Act. The purpose of the Joe Serna Jr. Farmworker Grant Program is to provide grants or deferred-payment loans for the construction and rehabilitation of housing for agricultural workers and their families.
