San Joaquin Valley Air Pollution Control - Clean Air Centers Pilot Program. Due 7/15.
Clean Air Centers Pilot Program
The Clean Air Centers Pilot Program was established by Assembly Bill 836, which provided funding to create Wildfire Smoke Clean Air Centers for Vulnerable Populations and establish a network of publicly accessible facilities with high-efficiency air filtration systems for valley residents who may not otherwise have access to clean air during wildfire events.
Public Entities – include, but are not limited to, schools and libraries.
Private Entities – include, but are not limited to, community centers, senior centers and sports centers.
Funding is provided to purchase the appropriate number of units to serve the square footage of the facility, based on the manufacturer's recommendation, and the number of air filter panels sufficient to last up to 5 years. Funds will be allocated by the County based on the percentage of population per county. The District intends to fund multiple facilities per county and reserves the right to reallocate funds based on interest and need as well as limit the amount a single entity can receive in order to ensure the greatest equity per county and meet the goals of the pilot program.
