July 9, 2018

The AccessLex Institute Center for Legal Education Excellence is accepting applications for its Unsolicited Grant Program, which supports new and innovative projects and research that advances its priorities of improving access, increasing affordability, and strengthening the value of legal education.

Grants of up to $125,000 for up to eighteen months will be awarded to projects that directly improve or, in the case of research-oriented projects, develop data, facts, or conclusions that further the understanding of improving access to legal education for students from diverse backgrounds; increasing the affordability and financing options for students pursuing legal education; and enhancing the value and relevance of legal education.

To be eligible, applicants must be AccessLex-member law schools or nonprofit and public organizations that are classified as tax-exempt under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code; as public charities under Section 509(a)(1), (2) or (3) of the Code; or as public organizations that are designated under Section 170(c) of the Code.

Letters of Intent must be received no later than July 31. Upon review, selected applicants will be invited to submit a full application by October 30, 2018.
