Public Comments due by February 26, 2020
Webinars scheduled for January 21, February 5, and February 18, 2020
To All Interested Parties,
The Air District is currently accepting public comments for the development of the Transportation Fund for Clean Air (TFCA) Regional Fund Policies and Evaluation Criteria for Fiscal Year Ending (FYE) 2021 (“FYE 2021 Policies”).
Three public webinars have been scheduled to review the current fiscal year policies, discuss proposed updates, and obtain stakeholder feedback.
Based on input from stakeholders, Air District staff will prepare a final draft of the proposed FYE 2021 Policies for consideration by the Air District’s Board of Directors at a meeting that is tentatively scheduled for June 2020. The adopted FYE 2021 Policies will govern the use of the TFCA funds from July 1, 2020, through June 30, 2021.
The initial draft of the FYE 2021 Policies is available in the “Resources” section of the Air District’s TFCA Regional Fund web page.
Interested parties are strongly encouraged to attend a webinar before submitting comments.
Three webinars have been scheduled to provide background on the TFCA program, discuss initial proposed updates, and review the public comment process and the timeline.

The California Health and Safety Code authorizes the Air District to impose a $4 surcharge on motor vehicles registered in the nine-county Bay Area to fund projects that reduce on-road motor vehicle emissions within the Air District’s jurisdiction. Sixty percent of TFCA funds are awarded by the Air District through the TFCA Regional Fund to eligible programs implemented directly by the Air District.
Each year, the Air District’s Board of Directors approves the allocation of new TFCA funds for the eligible project categories, and the proposed updates to the policies. Solicitations and Call for Projects are issued following the Board’s approval of the funding allocation and the adoption of the proposed policies.
More information about TFCA Regional Fund program is available on the TFCA Regional Fund web page.
