Description:

The Rural Innovation Stronger Economy (RISE) Grant Program offers grant assistance to create and augment high-wage jobs, accelerate the formation of new businesses, support industry clusters and maximize the use of local productive assets in eligible low-income rural areas.


The Agency encourages applicants to consider projects that will advance the following key priorities:

• Assisting rural communities to recover economically through more and better market opportunities and through improved infrastructure;

• Ensuring all rural residents have equitable access to RD programs and benefits from RD funded projects; and

• Reducing climate pollution and increasing resilience to the impacts of climate change through economic support to rural communities.


There are two categories of grants:

  • Grants for the purpose of constructing, purchasing, or equipping a building to serve as an innovation center in order to establish accelerators.

  • Grants for the purpose of establishing and supporting job accelerators and related programs


Eligibility:

  • Non-profit entities

  • State entities

  • Tribal entities

  • Institutions of higher education

  • Public bodies
