Opportunity Number:

DE-FOA-0002872

Description:

The Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy (EERE) intends to issue, on behalf of the industrial Efficiency and Decarbonization Office, a Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA)entitled “Decarbonization of Water Resource Recovery Facilities (D-WRRF)”.

The purpose of this announcement is to stimulate RD&D to decarbonize the entire life cycle of Water Resource Recovery Facilities (WRRFs), formerly known as Wastewater Treatment Plants (WWTPs). It targets both individual unit processes at earlier stages of technological development, and entire treatment trains at higher levels of technological readiness. It seeks to address both direct and indirect emissions from WRRFs, with the complementary goal of reducing costs, particularly in energy usage and sludge management, to improve the probabilities of real-world adoption.

This Notice is issued so that interested parties are aware of the EERE’s intention to issue this FOA in the near term. All of the information contained in this Notice of Intent is subject to change. EERE will not respond to questions concerning this Notice.

Once the FOA has been released, EERE will provide an avenue for potential Applicants to submit questions. EERE plans to issue the FOA on or about mid-December via the EERE eXCHANGE website https://eere-eXCHANGE.energy.gov/.

If Applicants wish to receive official notifications and information from EERE regarding this FOA, they should register in EERE eXCHANGE. When theFOA is released, applications will be accepted only through EERE eXCHANGE.
