NYSERDA - Clean Hydrogen Innovation Co-Funding for Federal Funding Opportunities

NYSERDA is pleased to share that Governor Hochul today announced $10 million to support clean hydrogen research, development, and demonstration (RD&D) projects that address the challenge of replacing fossil fuel use in hard-to-electrify sectors. The Clean Hydrogen Innovation Co-Funding for Federally Funded Opportunities (PON 5322) specifically aims to provide co-funding (cost sharing) to New York entities and projects applying to concurrent federal clean hydrogen funding opportunities. Entities that have submitted or are in the process of submitting an application for federal funding in areas that overlap with NYSERDA’s clean hydrogen solicitation challenge areas are eligible. PON 5322 includes four key innovation challenge areas:

  • Hydrogen applications to decarbonize industrial process heat

  • Clean hydrogen production and integration with renewable energy

  • Mitigation of nitrogen oxide (NOx) emissions from hydrogen combustion

  • Hydrogen storage technologies

Along with NYSERDA proposal documents, proposers are required to submit their federal concept paper for evaluation by NYSERDA.
