Description:

The Grid Deployment Office, in conjunction with the Office of Clean Energy Demonstrations, is issuing this FOA. Awards made under this FOA will be funded, in whole or in part, with funds appropriated by the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, also more commonly known as the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law or BIL. The activities to be funded under this FOA support three BIL sections including Section 40101(c): Grid Resilience Grants, Section 40107: Smart Grid Grants, and Section 40103(b): Grid Innovation Program. Together DOE refers to these programs as the Grid Resilience and Innovation Partnerships or GRIP program.

Topic Area 1: Grid Resilience Grants (40101(c))

Topic Area 2: Smart Grid Grants (40107)

Topic Area 3: Grid Innovation Program (40103(b))

Eligibility:

A. Eligible Applicants i. Topic Area 1 (Section 40101(c)) The following domestic entities are eligible to apply: • electric grid operator; • electricity storage operator; • electricity generator; • transmission owner or operator; • distribution provider; • fuel supplier; • And any other relevant entity, as determined by the Secretary.

ii. Topic Area 2 (Section 40107) The following domestic entities are eligible to apply: • institutions of higher education; • for-profit entities; • non-profit and not-for-profit entities; and • state and local governmental entities, and tribal nations.

iii. Topic Area 3 (Section 40103(b)) The following domestic entities are eligible to apply: • a State; • a combination of 2 or more States; • an Indian Tribe; • a unit of local government; and • a public utility commission.

Maximum Award: $250M
