ORGANIZATION NAME: NYSERDA
DESCRIPTION: The New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) is administering the Remote/Virtual Energy Audit Challenge to support the residential energy efficiency industry as the economy reopens and our state builds back better following the COVID-19 pandemic and subsequent NY PAUSE order. NYSERDA seeks to partner with the home improvement and energy efficiency industry as well as developers of software tools and service providers to assist in developing viable approaches for remote and virtual residential energy audits that stimulate market activity and improve consumer engagement. As our economy reopens and business resumes, ensuring social distancing and adhering to public safety restrictions is paramount as we simultaneously work toward our residential energy efficiency and carbon emissions reduction goals. Through this initiative, NYSERDA will support the development of safer work practices in the post-COVID-19 era by funding the deployment and testing of remote-access and no-touch energy auditing strategies in the market in two categories. Under Category 1 qualified partners will develop and test remote energy audit strategies with 1-4 unit residential customers of all income levels in New York State. NYSERDA will provide development grants up to $25,000 to support partners in establishing remote audit capabilities and training staff to provide those audits. In addition, participating partners will be paid the standard in-field energy audit rate for the program in which the customer is participating for each documented remote energy audit completed through December 31, 2020.
