Description:
The Locomotive Program provides incentive funds for the replacement of old high-polluting locomotives to new Tier 4 units. Alternative switcher locomotives include genset locomotives (Multi-engine switcher) and electric-hybrid locomotives. Multi-engine switchers are typically powered by two or three off-road engines, while electric hybrids use a small diesel engine to charge batteries that provide locomotive power.
Please note that the SJVAPCD Locomotive Program is not a rebate program.
Eligibility:
Applicants must obtain approval and have a signed, executed contract from the SJVAPCD prior to the purchase of new equipment. Any equipment purchased prior to contract execution is ineligible.
