Description:
The Texas Clean School Bus program is offering grants to replace or retrofit school buses in Texas. The program is designed to reduce school children’s exposure to diesel exhaust from school buses.
Vehicles eligible for replacement or retrofit must:
be powered by a diesel engine;
currently operate on a regular, daily route to and from a school during the regular school year—and for the two years immediately preceding the signature date on the application;
be in good operating condition, and, for retrofit projects, have at least five years of remaining useful life; and
have been owned, leased (retrofit only), or commercially financed, registered, and operated by the applicant in Texas for at least the two years immediately preceding the signature date on the application.
Eligibility:
All public school districts and open-enrollment charter schools in Texas.
