The California Department of Housing and Community Development (Department) is pleased to announce the availability of approximately $75 million in Homekey Tribal Program funding to sustain and rapidly expand the inventory of housing for people experiencing homelessness, At Risk of Homelessness, Homeless Youth, Youth At Risk of Homelessness, Transition-Aged Youth or seniors and who are, thereby, inherently impacted by or at increased risk for medical diseases or conditions due to the COVID-19 pandemic or other communicable diseases.
Funding available under this NOFA provides an opportunity for Tribal Entities to develop multifamily Rental Housing Developments, including Rehabilitation of existing housing, new construction of apartments, townhomes, or single-family rental homes, including manufactured housing, or conversion of non-residential space to residential housing. Projects developed using Homekey Tribal funding shall provide Permanent Housing for the Target Population.
Eligibility:
Tribal Entities, as defined in Article VII of this NOFA, located in California, that demonstrate sufficient experience and capacity to develop, own and operate affordable housing. Eligible Applicants may apply individually or jointly with a city, county, Local Public Entity or a nonprofit or for-profit corporation, a limited liability company (LLC), and/or a limited partnership (LP) as a Co-Applicant.
