The Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA) (Pub. L. 117-58) provides funding for the Natural Gas Distribution Infrastructure Safety and Modernization (NGDISM) Grant Program. NGDISM funds are available for municipality- or community-owned utilities (not including forprofit entities) to repair, rehabilitate, or replace their natural gas distribution pipeline system or portions thereof, or to acquire equipment to (1) reduce incidents and fatalities and (2) avoid economic losses. Through the NGDISM Grant Program, PHMSA seeks to reduce the risk profile of existing pipeline systems with pipe prone to leakage of methane, create related good-paying jobs2 and promote economic growth, and benefit disadvantaged rural and urban communities with safe provision of natural gas.
Eligibility:
The FY 2022 NGDISM Grant Program is open to the following entities: a. Municipality-owned utilities operating a natural gas distribution system b. Community-owned utilities operating a natural gas distribution system *For profit entities are NOT eligible for NGDISM grant funding.
