Description:

The purpose of this solicitation is to provide cost-share funding to applicants that apply for and receive one of the following:

  1. An award under an eligible federal Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) and meet the requirements of this solicitation, or

  2. Follow-on funding from the U.S. Department of Energy to continue research from a previously awarded federal grant that also received Energy Commission federal cost share funding under PON-14-308, GFO-18-902, or this GFO and the proposed project meets the requirements of this solicitation.

Funding Opportunities that are eligible for Energy Commission Cost Share include:

  • Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (BIL): Battery Materials Processing and Battery Manufacturing (DE-FOA-0002678)

  • Bipartisan Lawn (BIL): Electric Drive Vehicle Battery Recycling and Second Life Applications (DE-FOA-0002680)

  • Carbon Management (DE-FOA-0002614)

  • Clean Energy Manufacturing Innovation Institute for Industrial Decarbonization Through Electrification of Process Heating (DE-FOA-0002737)

  • Fiscal Year 2022 Vehicle Technologies Office Program Wide Funding Opportunity Announcement (DE-FOA-0002611)


Eligibility:

This solicitation is open to all public and private entities with the exception of local publicly owned electric utilities. In accordance with CPUC Decision 12-05-037, funds administered by the CEC may not be used for any purposes associated with local publicly owned electric utility activities.

A local publicly owned electric utility is an entity as defined in California Public Utilities Code section 224.3.

  • BIL Electric Drive Vehicle Battery Recycling and Second Life - $1.2M-$1.5M

  • Carbon Management - $375K

  • Clean Energy Manufacturing Innovation Institute for Industrial Decarbonization Through Electrification of Process Heating - $3M

  • Fiscal Year 2022 Vehicle Technologies Office Program Wide Funding Opportunity Announcement - $400K - $2M
