Coming Soon: Food and Drug Administration-Centers of Excellence in Regulatory Science and Innovation
Centers of Excellence in Regulatory Science and Innovation (CERSI)
A cooperative agreement is being used for this NOFO to capitalize on the complementary expertise of FDA and the CERSI for accelerated advancement of FDA's public health mission. FDA provides regulatory and scientific expertise and the CERSI provides scientific expertise. Research projects designed to address an unmet regulatory science need at the Agency are selected and conducted in collaboration with FDA. For most research projects, FDA serves in an advisory role, interacting with the CERSI in study design, interpretation of study results and review of manuscripts and presentations. For some projects, FDA in conjunction with the CERSI conduct the study's data analyses and for some others, FDA and the CERSI jointly participate in conduct of the study. The FDA and CERSI collaborative interactions provide the Agency with regulatory science advancements that may otherwise be limited, or not realized, by individual effort of either FDA or the CERSI.
